“My Life with Him” – a review from Butaca Teatral

“My Life with Him” – a review from Butaca Teatral

(translated from the Spanish by Stephen Page}

My Life With Him musicians and actors

The curtain of the Teatro Margarita Xirgu lifts and the stage comes alive with musicians and actors introducing the audience to the love story between Jack (Carlos Zabala) and Anna (Paula Villanuestre). A burning young love that becomes unrequited and lies dormant for decades in the hearts of the two protagonists over decades until fate strikes with a casual and unexpected reunion.

With brilliant character interaction, an audience member might say that “My Life with Him” is a tender rendering of a universal dream. Fito Paez’s empathic music helps the plot move along by strumming the hearts of the audience, and his lyrics are used for dialogue.  The third character in the play Angel (Emma) plays an important Venus/Cupid role, and she deserves the standing ovation she received after the opening show.

Mi Life With Him stage

“My Life with Him” implements simple scenery and a basic wardrobe. Carolina Papaleo geniusly breaks with the structures of the classic love story, and demonstrates commitment to quality theater.

The "Estrella de Mar" Award

CAROLINA PAPALEO and RUBÉN STELLA in MAR DEL PLATA

Carolina Papaleo and Rubén Stella are in Mar del Plata all January to present “Your Fourtune in a Blink”. If you like theater, this is a great show to see.  Yo Adivino el Parpadeo is a story of two contemporary milongueros (people who dance tango regularly) living out passionate moments in their lives for the stage.  Witness the two as they meet again for the first time in years. Watch the drama unfold and be drawn into the plot.  Experience each ensuing moment as it brings an unexpected joy or heartache.  The story is both comfortable and rattling.   The beautiful and talented Carolina Papaleo stars in this outstanding play alongside Rubén Stella.

Here is a translation and embellishment by Stephen Page of the credits and synopsis, fromCarolina Papaleo:
